A community portal about Creedence Clearwater Revival with blogs, videos, and photos. According to Wikipedia.org: Creedence Clearwater Revival, commonly referred to by their initials CCR or simply Creedence, was an American swamp rock band, fronted by John Fogerty. Although it hailed from the Bay Area of California, the group clearly was heavily influenced by the swamp blues genre that came out of south Louisiana in the late 1950s and early to mid- 1960s. CCR cultivated a Louisiana connection through its choice of song and album titles, such as "Born on the Bayou," Bayou Country, and Mardi Gras, as well as through the southern "good ol' boy" image projected by its members.
Though their time on the music stage was brief, they became signature sounds in rock, and these recordings display their evolution as artists.

If I can say anything, it's that CCR's sound is quite diverse, to say that they were only around for 4 years.
As we get closer to Halloween my mind turns more and more towards the murder ballad, not necessarily a blues form, but I think closely related. There are quite a few blues rock renditions of some of the classic Murder Ballads. Let's see what I can dig up between now and Halloween.First up are a couple of tunes, one "Graveyard Train" by Creedence Clearwater Revival and the second one, by a group called The Graveyard Train doing their song...

It’s hard to pinpoint the moment it occurs, but at some point while watching John Fogerty run through the highlights of his career at the Kodak Theater, one gets the distinct sensation of tapping the source.
Though the songs he wrote for Creedence Clearwater Revival were conceived roughly forty years ago, they seem to be as old as the mountains. They’re so ingrained in the collective consciousness, so deeply embedded, that it’s easy to...

Some of my earliest memories of really connecting with music come from a Creedence Clearwater Revival Chronicle Vol. 1: The 20 Greatest Hits CD that my mother owned, and usually it started with a guitar lick. The riffs that John Fogerty wrote with Creedence were so iconic and natural that I never gave any thought [...]
Filed under: Concerts and Tours, NewsThe sound of a lonesome fiddle ringing out from the stage of Nashville's venerable Ryman Auditorium just before the curtain rises is nothing unusual. But it was also no indication of what was to come when John Fogerty and his nine-piece band ripped into 'Hey Tonight,' and nearly a dozen other Creedence Clearwater Revival swamp-rock classics.Sprinkled throughout Fogerty's blistering two-and-a-half-hour set...
To many, Creedence Clearwater Revival founder John Fogerty is second only to Bruce Springsteen when it comes to roots-fueled Americana. Those folks got a real treat this August when Fogerty released The Blue Ridge Rangers Rides Again, an album of cover songs that included a duet between hi...
Filed under: News, Exclusive, Movies, Politics as UsualWhen John Fogerty wrote the lyrics to 'Fortunate Son' in 1969, he didn't know how resonant the song would be. In fact, he didn't know if anyone would still care about his music in the near future. "I had no idea what the future would hold," the former Creedence Clearwater Revival frontman tells Spinner. "I used to tell people 'I'm trying to make records that they'll still play 10 years...
