A community portal about Creedence Clearwater Revival with blogs, videos, and photos. According to Wikipedia.org: Creedence Clearwater Revival, commonly referred to by their initials CCR or simply Creedence, was an American swamp rock band, fronted by John Fogerty. Although it hailed from the Bay Area of California, the group clearly was heavily influenced by the swamp blues genre that came out of south Louisiana in the late 1950s and early to mid- 1960s. CCR cultivated a Louisiana connection through its choice of song and album titles, such as "Born on the Bayou," Bayou Country, and Mardi Gras, as well as through the southern "good ol' boy" image projected by its members.

The group consisted of lead vocalist, lead guitarist, and primary lyricist John Fogerty, his brother and rhythm guitarist Tom Fogerty, bassist Stu Cook, and drummer Doug Clifford. Their musical style encompassed rock and roll and swamp rock genres. Despite their San Francisco Bay Area origins, they are sometimes also cited as southern rock stylists. The world has a morbid fascination with pile ups and destruction. We can't take our eyes off of a train derailment or a crashed airliner. People losing their feet at amusement parks is curiously funny. This is why we need another Vince Neil solo record. Doug Elfman of the Las Vegas Review-Journal reports that MÖTLEY CRÜE singer Vince Neil is currently in Las Vegas recording his solo record. The disc has a tentative title of Tattoos and Tequila. Vince plans on covering the Creedance Clearwater Revival " Who'll Stop the Rain ." This has disaster written all over it. Classic song redone by a ... Read Full Story

As we get closer to Halloween my mind turns more and more towards the murder ballad, not necessarily a blues form, but I think closely related. There are quite a few blues rock renditions of some of the classic Murder Ballads. Let's see what I can dig up between now and Halloween.First up are a couple of tunes, one "Graveyard Train" by Creedence Clearwater Revival and the second one, by a group called The Graveyard Train doing their song...
