I knew Toni as a prison inmate and she is not the phyco killer everyone is refering her to be. She is a kind and understanding person who regrets what happen, she wasn't the actual killer Put yourself in her situation she couldve been right next to Shanda God Rest Shandas Soul she did not deserve this in any manner. However, I do beleive the others were the responsible parties in Shandas murder and they all will be dealt with when they meat there maker. I am happy for Toni now she can have a realative normal life. God bless her children and my they grow and prosper.

A murderer is a murderer no matter what they do and who they are. Toni should be reminded every day that she is a murderer and i hope she is tormented every min of her life for the hell she brought to shandra and her family. I read the story about Shanda and it was such a terrible way she had to die. However I REALLY believe that Toni WAS in the wrong place at the WRONG time. I could see that the others did PARTICIPATE in her murder, I think Toni was just caught in the middle and SCARED. I AM very happy to read that she is out of prison and able to go on with life .... and for you who say a "murder is a murder" .. I am certain this will haunt her for the rest of her life ... and make her question "what more could I have done?" ...

Toni was put in prison for not making a choice. What a coward. To stand there and do nothing at all...neither participate or stop the others. She deserved to serve her entire sentence as they all do. There is no excuse. I wrote a paper on this crime in college and it still shocks me today. Everyone should have to serve their sentence...none of the 'released early for good behavior' BS should be allowed,,,not EVER!

Of course she's at fault. When they stopped to get gasoline all she had to do was run and tell the people in the store what was in the trunk. She's guilty as sin, cowardly, and a disgrace to humanity.

Toni had every chance in the world to stop anything that happened that night from the beginning. ALL she had to do was get the guts to be the girl who went to the door to speak to Shanda, tell her Melinda was hiding in the car and go inside and wake up Sanda's dad, end of night. Even worse she was FIVE BLOCKS from her house when they got the gasoline to burn a LIVING Shanda. Why didn't she take off then to HER house and thell HER parents then? She did serve her time for the story she gave police but she certinaly did not serve time for her actions.

Given the circumstances, condemning T. Lawrence because she failed to demonstrate the nerve and courage necessary to prevent the atrocities in question from occurring betrays an extreme ignorance concerning the psychology of the average fifteen-year-old girl and, might I add, a moral standpoint approaching cruelty. How many people can honestly say that under similar circumstances, at the tender age of fifteen, they would without a doubt have acted in accordance with the dictates of morality and the law? Only the complacent would ever answer this in the affirmative. Fear and the belief that one is powerless in a situation are quite sufficient to prevent one from opposing the most horrible actions. Granted, in the case of adults these things in no way excuse a failure to act (although, in my humble opinion, they should at least arouse some compassion in us for those who are overcome by them). But in the case of children? I am not forgetting the principal victim here at all. Certainly a horrible crime was committed, but we should not allow the horror of the crime to blind us to its complexities and turn us into heartless (and mindless) accusers.

I dont care what anyone say's, 15 yr olds are not that stupid. She had so many opportunities to do what was right. She chose not to. I am glad that she came forward to talk to the police, but why couldn't she have done it sooner/??? Im sorry, but there were so many times she could have. She had no problem saying to Hope, why are you helping them. She knew it was wrong what they were doing, yet didnt do anything. For fucks sakes when they were at the gas station, she could have easily screamed and got the attention of people. Now she is happy and enjoying life.
