No names have been released, but police say both of the deceased were in their 20s and police have suggested that they may have been boyfriend and girlfriend. "Right now we’re looking into the possibility of some relationship between” them, said Chicago Police Chief of Patrol Eugene Williams.
The Old Navy location is in Chicago's popular Loop shopping district. The man is said to have shot the woman several times in an employee-only area of the store's basement before shooting himself. No one else was hurt, but the incident sent panicked customers and employees running from the store.
“He just came in and got her, shot her," an unnamed employee explained to
the Chicago Sun-Times on Friday .
