New York Rangers defenseman Wade Redden cleared waivers today and finds himself heading to Hartford to play for the Wolf Pack (as of February, the Connecticut Whale ) of the AHL, and as the Hockey News’s Ken Campbell has his predictable, “It violates the spirit of the CBA!” hissy fit and the CBC’s Elliotte Friedman and Yahoo Sports’ Greg “Puck Daddy” Wyshynski weigh in on the...Read Full Story
(c) OnFrozenBlog - http://www.onfrozenblog.com/ - I wasn’t the most popular fella in these parts when, in the middle of summer, I offered the opinion that losing out on Cristobal Huet and settling for Jose Theodore didn’t exactly inspire dreams of circling around Verizon Center ice with Lord Stanley raised high. To be fair: the Caps pursued Huet with vigor, and lost out having made a very good-faith effort to re-up with him.

It is terrific news that this morning the Capitals' starting goaltender boasts a .929 save percentage and a 2.12 goals-against, both statistics good enough for 6th-best in their respective categories in the entire league. Then again, one more goalie to play in front of like Jose Theodore, and the Gr8 may rethink the merits of that new pro hockey league in Russia. Could you blame him? When you’re a hockey town in training and you’re looking down on Cleveland, things ain’t so...Read Full Story

The league also announced the Capitals will play two games each against Western Conference opponents Columbus, Los Angeles and Nashville during the...Read Full Story
