Croatia lost ...

... so what? Never before has Croatia lost a qualification game in Zagreb but on Wednesday it happened. Croatia 1 - England 4; true, it is bitter and the Croatian squad didn't look to competitive. However, the media's reaction to this defeat is a shame. Last year when Croatia beat England at Wembley stadium the newspapers and online portals were euphoric. Slaven Bilic was a god and the players were heroes. It almost seemed as if Croatia was unstoppable and that winning the Euro 2008 was just a formality. Well, finally Croatia lost to Turkey and everybody was dissapointed but the media stayed fair.

Now, after the 1 - 4 defeat the media obviously decided to switch to "attack mode". Capello taught Slaven Bilic a lesson, the formation and tactics against England were wrong, Slaven Bilic doesn't have enough experience to lead Croatia to WC 2010 in South Africa, the players don't show enough heart ...

Come on .. Croatia is a country with a population of around 4,5 million and is currently ranked #5 according to the FIFA ranking (Brazil is ranked #6 by the way). There is no doubt that Croatia's national team has improved a lot since Slaven Bilic took over but all of a sudden some journalists decided that this man is no good and that "mission 2010" can not be accomplished.

Dear journalists:
Give the man some credit for what he and his assistants have accomplished so far! Don't make a national crisis out of one bad evening - life goes on and Croatia will be winning again!
