Former Kentucky Derby winner Lil E. Tee, has died from complications following an operation last month to repair an obstructed bowel. Lil E. Tee, who was the surprise winner of the 1992 Kentucky Derby, was 20 years old. He was euthanized last Wednesday at Old Frankfort Stud. A statement on Friday from Lane's End Farm where the stallion lives says the filly out of the broodmare Zophie was born Tuesday at Burleson Farms near Midway, Ky. The 2009 Horse of the Year and Preakness winner, Rachel Alexandra, gave birth to the bay colt by two-time Horse of the Year (2007-2008) Curlin at 2:40 p.m EST on January 22.
