Lifan Motorcycles
American Lifan
Chinese-made Lifan Motorcycles came onto my radar screen about 5 to 6 years ago. All under 400cc’s, look like nice starter bikes. With an MSRP starting at $3099 and up to 90 MPG, well… what else can you say?
“American Lifan is the fully owned subsidiary of China Lifan. Selling more than 3.5 million engines in the last year puts us #1 on the charts for engine production. Even though there are hundreds of motorcycles manufacturers in China, we just happen to be the biggest. We have been the world leader in motorcycle exports for a number of years, and we hold more patents than any other Chinese motorcycle company.”
Lifan Makes quite a few Honda replica motorcycles for instance the xr50, CT70 minitrail, Quads and more. They are pretty descent bike but like most chinese bikes the worst part of owning one has been getting spare parts and a qualified technician to work them. For the most part most motorcycle shops will not touch them, why I coudn’t answer that they are just basic four stroke motorcycles nothing fancy about them. As of a few years back you can now redily get parts from to major sources on the web American Lifan out of Texas and Hooper Imports out of Seattle. I have dealt with both and by far the most knowledgable and easest to deal with is Hooper Imports. They stock hundreds of parts for all Lifan Motorcycles but ATV’s.
So if you are thinking of buying one of theses reasonably price motorcycles and you have some mechanical inclination then I say go for it you wont be dissapointed.
