Eddie Yaklin, a Texas resident and car dealer, is being dubbed a hero today after finding 3 men who were stranded at sea for eight days on a capsized boat Saturday. The men said they survived on crackers, beer and three gallons of water.
James Philips (with family) was rescued by Eddie Yaklin (AP).
Yaklin was sailing off the coast of Matagorda when he spotted the men standing on their boat through his binoculars.
Kristv reported that Yaklin said, " Something was right, that we went to that rig, that we left a week early. We were supposed to bring the boat back next week, I mean, something, just God w as watching after them."
The men, who were fishing for marlin, were sleeping when their boat began filling with water from a pontoon malfunction.
James Phillips,
Curtis Hall and
Tressel Hawkins woke up just in time to witness the capsize. All three men currently seem to be in good condition.
