Saw an old man today, drinking coffee, with not only a large wart on the end of his nose, but a little tuft of hair growing out of it. I staggered from the shop, insensible.
Finished reading Our Mutual Friend, which was excellent, and also (as much as I could stomach, at least), at a friend’s insistence, Bix’s Trumpet, by one Dave Margoshes (derivative – predictable – trash). Shocking, as I said to a group of coffee pals, how bad the taste of one’s friends is getting these days. They nodded their heads in agreement.
Several unnecessarily rude rejection notices this week. Now, when you're the devil, a certain amount of rudeness is expected - and in order - but ... Beginning to think that a pleasant editor (or an intelligent one, for that matter) is a rare bird indeed. A dodo, probably.
