Senator Barack Obama has won the vote as the children's choice for the next President of the US. Over 2.2 million kids voted online in the Nickelodeon 'Pick the President' poll with 51% of the vote, 1,167,087 opting for Obama. 49% or 1,129,945 viewers of the kids TV channel picked McCain ... but only after they were told they could not vote for Spongebob Squarepants. Wha? No more Nick splat? Nickelodeon has unveiled their new logo for the kid network, with a fairly understated and generic version. President Cyma Zarghami said in a statement: “We wanted to clean it up and allow Nick to be the stamp on all of these channels… In asking ourselves if everything could live under the splat, we decided that the splat was dated. NEW YORK, July 17 (UPI) -- creator Steve Hillenburg admits he never expected his animated sea-dwelling characters to become pop-culture phenomena. Nickelodeon is celebrating the series' 10th anniversary with a marathon of special programming this weekend. Hillenburg, a former marine biologist, told USA Today. recalled Nickelodeon president Cyma Zarghami.
