Omaha Nighthawks general manager Rick Mueller told ESPN 1620 The Zone that former Atlanta Falcons quarterback D.J. Shockley. Mueller also mentioned Jeff Garcia, Brian St. Pierre, Brad Banks, and JaMarcus Russell as possible Nighthawk quarterbacks. Shockley has never played in an NFL game, but he has spent most of his career as the Falcons third string quarterback or on the Falcons practice squad. The Atlanta Falcons have announced that they have waived quarterback D.J. Shockley. The Falcons have now reached the 80-man training camp roster limit. Shockley was drafted by the Falcons in the seventh round of the 2006 draft.Shockley did not make the Falcons 53-man roster last season and spent 2009 on the Falcon's practice squad. The Falcons official website reports that the team on Friday waived backup QB D.J. Shockley The Atlanta Falcons waived backup quarterback and former UGA star D.J. Shockley, the club announced Friday afternoon. The National Football Post reports that former Falcon QB D.J. Shockley has joined the UFL: The Omaha Nighthawks have invited former Atlanta Falcons quarterback D.J. Shockley to attend their minicamp, and he’s confirmed he’ll attend. UCLA Coach Jim Mora will name starting quarterback ... in August
A scrimmage at the Rose Bowl, however, will give Brett Hundley, Kevin Prince, Richard Brehaut and others a chance to make an impression.
