Dr. Boyce Watkins Responds to an Unlikely Partnership that Perpetuates the Worst of African American Stereotypes (Syracuse, NY) Tuesday, October 28, 2008 – Could it be that CNN may have made a mistake in its most recent partnership with controversial comedian D.L. Hughley in its weekend premier of D.L. Hughley Breaks the News ? It’s possible. Less than 48 hours after the airing of the controversial program, one can barely find any reference to D.L. Hughley’s CNN show on the CNN web site... Read Full Story
I found D.L. Hughley's "Break the News" an offensive show that perpetuates the negative stereotypes that have dogged blacks in this country for too long. We are on the verge of making history with the first African American, Barack Obama, becoming the President of the United States and all Hughley could do is to insult blacks. The show needs to be on Comedy Central, BET or HBO. It has no place on CNN. What upsets me is that throughout the presidential campaign race has been an omnipresent... Read Full Story
D.L. Hughley’s CNN show cancelled but remains at CNN as a L.A. contributor.
D.L. Hughley’s comedy show on CNN, D.L. Hughley Breaks the News , is ending as the comedian assumes new responsibilities for the cable channel, CNN announced on Thursday. In a statement, the network said, “D.L. approached CNN about being permanently based in Los Angeles, where his family lives. To accommodate this, we agreed upon a new role where he will be a contributor for the network based in Los Angeles. We... Read Full Story
After watchin D.L. Hughley on Larry King Live a few weeks back, I was impressed with what he had to say. He was on point and speaking about a lot of the things that I have on my mind and saying things quite frankly that no one else seems to have the heart to say. However, with his new show, that approach has gone out the window; something has changed. If this is as a result of those highest up in CNN, they have made a vital mistake. D.L.'s new show is utterly deplorable. It does nothing more... Read Full Story
Will the bad news for America never cease? CNN has gone and canceled its highest-rated Daily Show ripoff incongruously hosted by a mediocre standup comedian, "D.L. Hughley Breaks the News." Dude it took us forever just to find the actual name of that show, which is maybe why he got canned? Cityfile says the show got canceled because of "budgetary constraints." CNN says, ha, he wanted to spend more time with his family. Aha. Everyone
please share your fondest reminisces of D.L. Hughley's... Read Full Story

CNN introduced a new weekend comedy show on Saturday, Oct. 25, 2008, hosted by D.L.Hughley, who when asked by Larry King; whom would he like to have as the next President, Hughley said he really didn’t care, as long as the next President did a good job. Hughley probably never knew what hit him in the face, when he received the offer to host a daily news events comedy show on CNN. Hughley’s first idea for his new comedy show might have jokingly been: “I could just see the big boys now, laid... Read Full Story
I remember a time when CNN was the "go to" place for news. I'm not sure their foray into the comedy world is working though. Between the always obnoxious (and possibly inebriated) Kathy Griffin and the un-news attempted comedy show D.L. Hughley, CNN is beginning to go the way of MTV. Remember when that used to be a music video channel?

It's another mobile blog brought to you by me, Blackberry, and two busy thumbs. Just look who I ran into on my way to work in Hollywood. It's not rare to see them in town, but seeing them get prime real estate on Hollywood's most visible billboards and buildings is something different. My staring at Blair's handsome face almost led to an accident. He's near Vine and Romaine. At CNN DL laughs at all the traffic on Sunset and Wilcox while P. Diddy pours the vodka next door. Check them out... Read Full Story
Can Jay Leno’s new primetime comedy/talk show rescue NBC from ruin? Who knows. But one thing is certain: comedy will be the priority, with a slightly diminished focus on the talk.

Hughley , Mikey Day , Rachael Harris, Jim Norton , The Dan Band have been announced as comedy correspondents, and NBC Nightly News ’ Brian Williams will partake... Read Full Story
