The Fuji Finepix J250 and the Panasonic Lumix DMC FS62 are two smaller digital cameras that come with a price tag at the lower end of the spectrum. Both of these cameras take surprisingly good pictures, but one camera has an edge over the other in my view.

It's hard to imagine complaining about a stylish compact camera that packs a stabilized 28-128mm zoom range and does 720p video capture at 30fps, but Panasonic's Lumix DMC-FP8 didn't garner any raves from the crew at PhotographyBLOG either. Image quality was found to be decent in well-lit conditions and no more than ISO 800 -- typical limitations on cameras with such tiny lens and body. If you can deal with slightly grainy, non-1080p video footage (the FZ35's video resolution maxes out at 720p), the Panasonic Lumix DMC-FZ35 may be the ideal hybrid model to serve double-duty as a camera and camcorder. It's hard to know where to start ...

The Panasonic Lumix DMC FS62 and Olympus FE-4000 are two of the cheaper pocket cameras. They both scores highly when it comes to ease of use. In my tests I found one of these cameras to be outstanding for the price.  

Two new Panasonic interchangeable lenses will provide more versatility for Lumix G Series cameras. The Micro Four Thirds lenses will work with Lumix DMC-G1, DMC-GH1, and DMC-GF1 cameras. The Lumix G 20mm lens (pictured here) is called a pancake lens because of its thin size. The G 20mm lens works especially well in low-light conditions, carrying a price of about $400. Ok - so this is hands down the best little camera available right now. But is it good enough? My humble opinion - not so. I bought this camera from Amazon a month ago - with the 20mm 1.7 lens. I have used it for a vacation in Barbados as well as street photography and 'go anywhere' type of shots. Here are my impressions.

The Panasonic Lumix DMC FZ38 and the Canon Powershot SX20 IS two well match super zoom cameras. They both offer excellent picture quality and they also offer a wide range of features.
