Serial Shooter jury begins considering sentence

Jurors have returned to a Phoenix courtroom to begin deciding on life or death for the man convicted in a series of random nighttime shootings that terrorized the city.

Dale Shawn Hausner was found guilty March 13 of murdering six people and attacking 19 others during the Serial Shooter attacks in the Phoenix area in 2005 and 2006.

On Monday, the same jurors who convicted Hausner listened to testimony from the medical examiner who performed the autopsies on two of the victims.

Dr. Philip Keen described the pain the victims likely experienced before they died.

The jurors must decide whether the death penalty is warranted. If Hausner is not condemned to die, he would face life in prison.

The judge must go along with the jury's decision if it votes to impose the death penalty.
