Said to have the best offense in the NBA, the team, now under coach-of-the-year Avery Johnson and led by the oft MVP-nominated Dirk Nowitzki, finished the 2007 season first in the league with a whopping 67 wins.

To the objection of many (myself included), Dallas Mavericks forward Dirk Nowitzki appeared to be a mortal lock to win the MVP award.
