Dan Uggla vs. an Atlanta cubicle worker?

By TTFBaseball on  From throughthefencebaseball.com
The Dan Uggla parking-lot showdown: Coming to an office grudge match near you! There are two things that you have to love – baseball and the male ego. I learned over a conversation with two co-workers, though, that sometimes these two things should not be mixed! It all started so innocently, but things got ugly in a hurry. Two male co-workers and I were discussing the start of the 2012 Major League Baseball season during a quick break at work. The boys and I started talking about how, if we...Read Full Story

Can Dan Uggla Turn His Ugly Season Around?

By Ryan Lester on  From lesterslegends.com
. We all know Dan Uggla isn’t going to win a batting title anytime soon. Sure he hit .282 as a rookie and .287 in his last year with the Marlins, but in between he hit .245, .260, and .243. There year his average is south of .200. . Through 44 games Uggla is hitting .196 with 19 runs, seven home runs, 15 RBI, and a stolen base, which puts him on pace for a .196-70-26-55-4 season. The home run total is not bad, but it is short of the 30.8 he averaged in his first five years in the league. His...Read Full Story

Dan Uggla Extends Hitting Streak to 30 Games

By backyardtees on  From backyardsportsblog.com
My main meathead Dan Uggla extended his hitting streak to 30 games last night in a 4-3 win over the Marlins.  After a pathetic start to the season Uggla has been on fire in the second half and I can't be more pleased.  I can't explain how hype I was when we first got him on the team.  Although I can't really see him breaking old Joe DiMaggio's record of 56 at least it gives me something to root for because we have about a 1% chance to catch the Phillies for the NL East Title.Read Full Story

Dan Uggla: From automatic out to record-breaking streaker – Atlanta Journal Constitution (blog)

Atlanta Journal Constitution (blog) Dan Uggla: From automatic out to record-breaking streakerAtlanta Journal Constitution (blog)This was the hit that stretched the streak to 31 games. Old news now, though. MLB: Was Dan Uggla’s Hot Second Half of 2011 the Exception or the Rule?

By Cameuh on  From mlbnewsandrecords.com
To say Dan Uggla had a horrible first half to the 2011 season would be an understatement. To say he was hot in the second half would be another understatement, too.So, the question is, was the second half of last season the exception or the rule for Ug...Read Full Story

Dan Uggla MLB Fantasy Baseball Projected Stats, ADP, Auction Value Rankings

By ballhyped on  From ballhyped.com
Dan Uggla won’t hit a decent batting average most seasons, but he will thump around 30 home runs and drive in around 100 RBI’s. Production like that sets Uggla apart from most at his position and makes him a top five to select at second base.View and VoteRead Full Story

Nick Kappel’s Fantasy Focus: The All-Overappreciated Team

By Peter on  From baseballreflections.com
Image by Getty Images via Daylife In last week’s Fantasy Focus, I announced the 2009 All-Underappreciated Team. This week we shift gears, as I present to you the All-Overappreciated Team:   Catcher – Russell Martin    Martin was the No. 1 drafted catcher in most leagues this year, but has failed to live up to those expectations. The 26-year-old is currently on pace to set career lows in HR (five), RBI (48), and batting average (.260). His .304 BABIP doesn’t suggest any poor luck, and he’s...Read Full Story

David Samson Doesn’t Know How You Got The Impression That They Were Trying To Trade Dan Uggla.

By JohnnyFiveOh on  From fishingforablog.com
It’s not like that’s been widely reported by various sources throughout the off season or anything. Either way (thanks to the club being called out for their cheap ways) the Marlins have signed Dan Uggla to a one-year $7.8 Million deal, thus avoiding arbitration. Soon after, it was reported that the team was still shopping him, but now everyone seems to think he’s going to stick around because David Samson said on 790 the Ticket that Uggla would be the team’s Opening Day second baseman. That...Read Full Story

Following Through.

By JohnnyFiveOh on  From fishingforablog.com
The Marlins have quickly followed through on their promise to increase spending by signing Josh Johnson to a four-year extension worth $39 million. The deal is back-loaded with Johnson slated to make $3.75 million this year, $7.75 million in 2011 and $13.75 million in the final two years of the deal. This does two things: First, it still leaves room in this season’s payroll to perhaps be able to retain Dan Uggla through arbitration. Second, with Johnson making $13.75 million in 2012, it means...Read Full Story
