A 2010 Chevrolet Camaro SS will serve as the pace car for next year's Indianapolis 500. Officials from Chevrolet and the Indianapolis Motor Speedway unveiled the car today. It will be the sixth time the race will be paced by a Camaro.  

Indianapolis Motor Speedway officials are altering the Month of May format again, marking the third year in a row the Indianapolis 500 schedule has been condensed to cut costs. The changes also push back the start of practice to May 15, the latest opening day in track history.  

The month of May is getting shorter at the Indianapolis Motor Speedway (IMS). IMS officials say activities leading to the 2010 Indianapolis 500 will be shortened by a week. Opening Day at the track will be May 15, with the race slated for May 30. Officials are also planning to condense Pole Day and Bump Day into the same weekend.  

INDY DownForce, the official fan club of the IZOD IndyCar Series, will again serve as a primary sponsor of the "Rumble in Fort Wayne" on Dec. 26-27, marking the third consecutive year of the Indy Racing League's involvement with the indoor racing event. Panther Racing confirmed that Dan Wheldon will return to the cockpit of its familiar No. 4 car for the 2010 season. Danica Patrick, who became the first woman to win an IndyCar race with a victory last year in Japan, said Monday she has signed a three-year contract extension to remain with Andretti Autosport.Patrick completed her third season with the team in 2009, finishing third at the Indianapolis 500. It was the first podium showing by a woman at the signature IndyCar event, improving on her fourth-place effort from 2005.
