Dania Ramirez Is the Newest CoverGirl Spokesmodel

29-year-old actress Dania Ramirez, best known for her roles in The Sopranos and Heroes, has just been named the newest face of CoverGirl cosmetics. She joins the ranks of Drew Barrymore, Queen Latifah, Rihanna, Ellen DeGeneres, and the winners of America's Next Top Model as brand spokespeople. Ramirez, who was born in the Dominican Republic, told People, "It's been in the works my whole life. I've always dreamed of being a CoverGirl."

Kudos to CoverGirl for choosing a woman like Dania, whose story echoes that of so many American women (when says that when she first arrived in the U.S., she didn't speak any English), to represent their brand. Hopefully decisions like these will encourage designers and casting agents to create presentations and ad campaigns that more accurately echo the diversity of our country.

Dania's print and television ads will begin airing in January 2010.
