Daniel Pearl Decapitation Video and Khalid Sheikh Mohammed
Suspected 9/11 mastermind Khalid Sheikh Mohammed has now claimed that he was the one who be-headed Daniel Pearl. Sounds like Mohammed is pleading guilty to just about every terrorist plot he can think of...
"I decapitated with my blessed right hand the head of the American Jew, Daniel Pearl, in the city of Karachi, Pakistan," Mohammed told a U.S. military panel, according to a Pentagon transcript released this week. "For those who would like to confirm, there are pictures of me on the Internet holding his head."
Judea and Ruth Pearl, Daniel's parents, say that it's impossible to know whether Mohammed's claim about killing their son "has any bearing in truth."
However, the claim, true or false, has sparked re-newed interest in the Daniel Pearl case. It was a gruesome and terrible tragedy and ended in the death and decapitation of Daniel Pearl. There is lots of information about the story here and related video as well.
We can just hope that Pearl's family, friends, and colleagues can find some closure and avoid the massive press storm that surrounded them during the events.
