Danny Glover Will Direct Biography of Toussaint Louverture

Danny Glover will direct the film biography of Haitian slave Toussaint Louverture entitled Toussaint. Hugo Chavez and the Venezuelan backed film studio Villa del Cine will give $18 million to fund this movie . Toussaint was a key figure in the Haitian uprisings in the late 1700s which lead to the independance of Haiti. Through this project and others about Latin American revolutionaries both Glover and Chavez hope to shed some light on Western Imperlism and exploit.  The history of Haiti and Tousaint draw a lot of parallels to the struggles of this nation and thus make it a compelling movie to watch. Also the movie has a list of heavy hitters slated to star in the epic, Don Cheadle as Toussaint; Angela Bassett,  Chiwetel Ejiofor, Mos Def, and  Isaac De Bankolé.  Wesley Snipes might also be in the movie as well.
