What, you say? Don't they always do 24 episodes per season. Quite true, in the past, save the '07-'08 writer's strike season, but the winds have shifted in our struggling economy. In an apparent belt-tightening move, CBS ordered only 22 episodes of their standing, scripted shows this season, less for new offerings. Now, as the year progresses and the numbers appear to be holding, CBS has ordered two additional episodes for "CSI Miami", "NCIS" and "NCIS LA" (though we wonder how this one would fare as a stand-alone, without parental lead-in), "How I Met Your Mother" and "Two and a Half Men". While we remain perpetually dismayed at the gullibility of American voters, the proof as seen in today's elections in many parts of the country, we move on to more lighthearted subjects.
