The Australian citizen David Hicks has become the first Guantanamo prisoner to plead guilty under the Military Commissions Act passed last year. Hicks has been held at Guantanamo Bay for the past five years.
That is the hypothesis of a law professor at Canberra's Australian National University. He points out that David has suffered 5 years in Guantanamo Bay and may have been convinced to plead guilty as his only way to get out of US custody.
