David Hyde Pierce Reveals He is Married

Former Frasier star David Hyde Pierce has revealed he married his long-term partner Brian Hargrove last October.

The men exchanged their vows in California during the brief window for legal gay marriages between the state made a U-turn on a previous ban and the anti-gay marriage Proposition 8 vote in November.

He told "Twenty-five years and we got married last October. Brian and I always kept a low profile. We didn’t hide our lives."

"We got married very quietly last Oct. 24 and thought that was fine, and then suddenly the state of California said, 'No, it's not.' What we thought was sort of a private, personal decision turned out not to be," he said on ABC's "The View."

Pierce, who has been with Hargrove for 25 years, said he was angry in November when California voters passed Proposition - and again on Tuesday when the court backed it.

"I was sitting in front of my television wondering, 'Gee, I hope it's OK the Supreme Court thinks I'm married.' Excuse me, it's none of your business," the 50-year-old Emmy winner said.

On Tuesday, the state’s Supreme court ruled that marriages that took place between June and November last year should still be considered legal marriages but upheld the ban, preventing more couples from marrying. Equal rights campaigners are now taking the fight to the federal court level.
