Roger Clemens Apologizes for 'Mistakes'
After being battered and beaten by the media, Roger Clemens made a statement Sunday, apologizing for everything, but admitting nothing. In his public comments, Clemens admitted he had made "mistakes" in his personal life, and apologized to his family and to his fans. This is the first public statement he has made since he was linked to an affair with country star Mindy McCready .
"I know that many people want to know what I have to say about the recent articles in the media," Clemens said in the statement. "Even though these articles contain many false accusations and mistakes, I need to say that I have made mistakes in my personal life for which I am sorry."
So basically, with this statement, the whole world has become just a little more suspicious of the former all-star pitcher. That whole tactic of apologizing just for the sake of trying to seem sincere, when in reality you don't really own up to anything, never really works the way public figures hope it will.
Clemens however did maintain that he has been open about the details of his "mistakes" with his family, and has asked the public to let him work these personal matters out by himself. Well, it's a little too late for that.
After having his personal life drudged up and smeared all over national news outlets, Clemens might want to rethink that defamation suit he brought against former trainer, Brian McNamee. Especially if he has more unsettling skeletons in his closet. Stay tuned for more Roger Clemens drama.
