Movies as Inspiration:: Marie Antoinette
Okay, when I say I'm addicted to decorating, I mean ADDICTED!!! I even find it difficult to sit and enjoy a movie without noticing the details of the movie sets. I get GREAT decorating ideas from these! Much to my husband's chagrin, I will very often ask him to pause or rewind a movie just so I can get a better view of a wall treatment, window treatment, or something else that caught my eye! (My hubby Matt is quite a patient man. He HAS to be to put up with my silliness like that!)
One of my favorite movies lately was Marie Antoinette (directed by Sofia Coppola). Okay...the story of her life was sad and tragic, and as far as the movie goes, it was slow, the plot development was lacking, and the acting was often sub-par....but I can forgive ALL of that because the movie set and costumes were an ABSOLUTE FEAST for the eyes--a triumphant success!!! Since the movie came out, I've noticed that the color palette has become quite popular. It was the inspiration for the colors I used on this blog. In fact, I'm even changing the color palette in my OWN home to one similar to these colors (a topic I'm sure I will be sharing with you in great depth as the project begins).
So anyway, here's my point...while you may think you've got enough decorating inspiration with your 15 magazine subscriptions, 30 catalog subscriptions, decorating forums, HGTV, and everything else....now there's SOMETHING ELSE!!! Start renting those movies, and consider it "research."
