When Joe Biden steps down from his Senate seat in Delaware, it will be filled by his long-time aide and Chief-of-Staff Ted Kaufman. Delaware’s governor, Ruth Ann Minner, announced Monday that she would name Kaufman to Biden's seat when he steps down to serve as Vice-President. Kaufman has worked for Biden for 19 years and is a very close friend of the VP-elect. He says he only plans to serve for two years to allow Biden's son, Beau, to run in 2010. Posted by Cato September 10, 2008 Joe Biden, Ruth Ann Minner, and the other good ole boys got their hat handed to them in last night’s Delaware Democrat primary. State Treasurer Jack Markell defeated Lt. Gov. John Carney by over 1,700 votes. Markell fought a hard race against the state Democrat machine as well as their money. Unfortunately for Delawareans, Markell is the more liberal of the two Dems (and that’s saying something). Posted by Cato August 8, 2008 Delaware Sen. Charles Copeland, the GOP candidate for Lt. Governor, was asked what his stance was on drilling off of Delaware’s coast . His response? He would not “take it off the table”. He wasn’t asked if he supported genocide, or clubbing baby seals. He as asked if he would support offshore drilling. In an era of $4 a gallon gasoline,Copeland made a pretty responsible statement. Personally, I think he should have made a flat endorsement, but we’re talking Delaware here. Rep.
