Delaware and Lehigh National Heritage Corridor

The Delaware and Lehigh National Heritage Corridor is a national heritage corridor in Easton, PA.

Experiencing Easton

Last week I had the pleasure of spending the day in Easton (fun fact I learned about Easton: it's where Dixie cups are made!). My colleague Tracey and I were at the Northampton County Courthouse for one of our community presentations (a grassroots effort by the bureau to promote the region and things to do to the locals), so we decided to grab a bite to eat in town while we were there.

Tracey had to stop by the Delaware and Lehigh National Heritage Corridor office at Hugh Moore Park before lunch, so I got to see where the National Canal Museum gives canal boat rides. I made a mental "note-to-self" that I need to bring my fiance back there when the weather gets warmer and take a ride. Where else in the area can you take a boat ride pulled by live mules!?

Then we went to Center Square for lunch at Pearly Baker's and watched a work crew assemble the holiday Peace Candle while we ate. I later read that the crew was local ironworkers who volunteered to assemble the candle. I commend the volunteers for stepping in and continuing the tradition of the Peace Candle, which was in jeopardy of not being put up this year. Kudos!

Will anyone be attending the Candle Lighting Ceremony on November 28th?
