The Houston Texans have signed free agent cornerback Deltha O'Neal and free agent running back Andre Hall, released rookie defensive tackle Jake Visser and waived injured rookie running back Jeremiah Johnson. The 32-year-old O'Neal played for New England last season, making 32 tackles and intercepting three passes in 16 games. O'Neal, the 15th overall pick by Denver in the 2000 draft, played four seasons for the Broncos and four with Cincinnati before signing with the Patriots before last season. Rookie right tackle Andre Smith has broken his foot during practice, only two days after he ended his holdout with the Cincinnati Bengals. He will be sidelined at least a few weeks. The first-round draft pick sustained a small fracture in his left foot during a noncontact drill Tuesday, his third workout with the team. Coach Marvin Lewis said the injury won't require surgery. Smith was the sixth overall pick, and the Bengals expected him to start at right tackle. Our friends over at the National Football Post are reporting that free-agent wide receiver T.J. Houshmandzadeh and the Cincinnati Bengals are close to reaching an agreement on a new contract. The site states that it’s believed there’s 70-percent chance Houshmandzadeh returns to Cincinnati next season, sources said. An eight-year veteran, Houshmandzadeh caught 92 passes for 904 yards and four touchdowns in 15 games last season.
