By RaptorTalk As training camp in Ottawa approaches, there is a level of excitement in Raptorland that we have not seen in years. We’ve been disappointed before, so the expectations of Raptors fans are somewhat tempered. Having said that, I certainly feel good going into the 2009-2010 season. One guy who we’re sure is feeling good is DeMar DeRozan – even though he’s likely a little apprehensive based on the pressures of being the #1 draft pick in Toronto - where NBA fans can be ruthless. Just ask Andrea Bargnani about the pressure that was placed on his shoulders when he didn't perform up ... Read Full Story

DeMar DeRozan Four of the Raptors’ starting five is basically in stone. You know Calderon is starting at point, Hedo at the three , Bosh at the four and Bargnani at the five. The shooting guard spot? That’s where it gets debatable. While early indications out of TO suggest that top draft pick DeMar DeRozan will begin the season as a starter, there is no guarantee that will stick throughout the season and maybe even preseason. The sure-to-be fan favorite guard out of USC has his fair share of competition at his spot. No question, DeMar is the future of the franchise. Because of ... Read Full Story

Version VI First Round 1. LA Clippers - Blake Griffin - 2. Memphis - Hasheem Thabeet - If Thabeet continues his development in the post, then he will become a reliable go to guy down low - which the Grizzlies need. 3. Oklahoma City - James Harden - 4. Sacramento - Ricky Rubio - Rubio's visit to Sacramento didn't go to well, but it is hard to imagine the Kings passing up on him if he is available here. 5. Washington - Jordan Hill - Hill has had impressive workouts with most teams which should secure himself a spot in the top five. 6. ... Read Full Story

DeMar DeRozan Guys like Tyreke Evans, Stephen Curry and Brandon Jennings are making headlines with standout stat lines, but one of the most consistently impressive rookies in the Vegas Summer League so far has been DeMar DeRozan . Four games in, he’s steadily improving — last night DeRozan put up 20 points on an efficient 9-for-16 from the field (56 percent) against the Suns — and is showing he’s got more to his game than running, jumping and dunking. (Not that he didn’t throw in a couple highlight-reel bangers.) With Anthony Parker headed to Cleveland, DeRozan should be Toronto’s opening day starting two-guard, and ... Read Full Story

The Toronto Raptors have a hot rookie shooting guard in DeMar DeRozan. Aside from being extremely athletic, DeRozan has both a first and last name with two capital letters. Clearly an added bonus. But is the kid ready to be a real starter on a team that hopes to make the playoffs? One writer says no. Frank Zicarelli [...]

The Score, which is broadcasting the Toronto Raptors' season opener Wednesday evening against the Cleveland Cavaliers, would be wise to keep a camera on Diane DeRozan."My mom is probably the [most] nervous one after she saw Shaq foul [Kevin Garnett] last night," Raptors rookie DeMar DeRozan said Wednesday morning. "She said if I go to the hole and he fouls me like that, she might overreact."DeRozan will get to hear his height, number and name...

After what I saw from DeMar DeRozan in the preseason I anticipated he would come out a bit nervous tonight but his play was anything but. Early in the game he hit two free throws and got a bit of swagger going. He followed that up with a nice jumper and then he had a steal on Cavs next possession. DeRozan finished the first quarter with 4 points, 3 boards, 1 block and 1 steal in 9 minutes of burn. While his final numbers won’t jump out at...
