Rage Against the Machine staged an anti-war rally that busted (pretty light-heartedly, and not so much ragingly, in my opinion) through downtown Denver late this afternoon. Maybe I didn't sense too much rage because I saw one female protestor drop her section of a very long butcher paper sign to take a lazy drag out of her cigarette, or maybe because the "NO WAR ON IRAN" sign kept drooping out of sight, I simply can't be sure. Certainly, when five members of the group started the jazzy a capella singalong: "War? Hunh! What is it good for? (Absolutely nothing)," I felt like joining in--that ... Read Full Story

Oh how freakin sweet that speech by Michelle Obama was last night! She was just so gushy and motherly like - now wasn’t she? Oh - and parading their kids out at the end for a “Huxtable” moment! (Nothing like exploiting your children is there?). And..now…we have this from NewsOne for Black America: FEATURED BLOG: Are the Obama’s the New Huxtables? Give me a freakin’ break! Oh! Wait! I see the resemblance! Cliff and Claire Huxtable taught their children personal responsibility, hard work, and to depend on no one to succeed and Michelle and Barack Obama want a socialist form of government where the ... A play-by-play (sorta) of Diana's first day at the DNC: 4:55am: The alarm on the radio clock in Diana's hotel room rings and does not stop when slammed against the wall. Even after unplugged, the clock burps and sighs for two minutes, all the while sounding not unlike the din of her aunts complaining at a holiday party. 7:45am: Diana wakes up for really real, feeling hung over even though she isn't, wondering if the altitude makes mornings more horrible in Denver. 8:04: While eating eggs, Diana realizes that during the last Democratic National Convention held in Denver (in 1908), women didn't even have ... Senator Obama's speech last night at Invesco field--as it must have appeared on TV and the web--was surreal, historic, and glorious from start to finish. I watched in almost silent awe, blubbering like a baby, my flag waving furiously in my right hand... taking my eyes off of the most eloquent speaker of our time only to turn around and periodically gauge the reaction of Hillary Rodham Clinton, who was sitting about four feet behind me (So was Madeleine Albright, Gov. David Patterson, Mayor Villaraigosa... nyyyeah, I had some okay seats). Clinton--who looked radiant, rested, and redeemed nn a chic, ivory suit--was both gracious ... Read Full Story

Is Obama guilty of arrogant hubris that will be his downfall? According to the AP: "Obama's campaign still portrays outward confidence about winning today, and says it's nearly impossible for Clinton to catch him in the delegate count. "But Obama has not cemented a lead in polls in either of the biggest "Super Tuesday II" states, breaking his recent pattern of racing ahead of Clinton as a state's primary approached." Hundreds of disenchanted Internet visitors ... Read Full Story
Adam Serwer says Obama lost last night: As for the biggest loser last night, I'd say the president, but not because these elections are a "referendum" on his agenda. That happened in 2008...No, Obama is a loser for backing two...

The Democratic Change Commission will soon submit a recommendation to the DNC advocating for changes to the nominating timeline, the caucus process, and the influence of unpledged delegates, according to The Hotline. "Members largely agree that presidential nominating contests need to begin later, and that caucus states need to group together to establish best practices. But disagreement over unpledged delegates remain after '08, when the...

The DNC and the White House are already in hot water with the gay community for a growing list of slights and grievances. But outright lying to the community about what the Democratic party did, or didn't do, to help gay and lesbian Americans and Democrats defend their civil rights this past election day in Maine - that crosses a line. A big one. Read my exposé on AMERICAblog gay.

The Democratic National Committee will run radio ads this week targeting four Michigan Republicans in Congress who voted against health care reform this month but represent districts that backed President Barack Obama in last year’s election. The DNC announced the ads against Mike Rogers of Howell, Thaddeus McCotter of Livonia, Dave Camp of Midland and Fred Upton of St. Joseph. Also targeted are Repulbicans in 28 other congressional districts...

Take the pledge. Don't ask, don't give. Here's why.FireDogLake's Jane Hamsher got a great interview with CBS News today about the gay-inspired boycott of the DNC, but also more generally about liberal angst with the Democratic party. Jane recommends folks unsubscribe from the Organizing for America email list. Jennifer Vanasco writes on Huff Post that it's about time someone started a boycott. The Human Rights Campaign responded to the...

Frustration is boiling over concerning the Democratic Party’s ongoing neglect of LGBT issues. The latest insult to injury? The Democratic National Committee and Organizing for America set emails to Mainers urging them to vote, but didn’t ask them to vote against Question 1. In fact, the email didn’t mention Question 1 at all. The DNC [...]

DNC Treasurer Andy Tobias joined in the comments section last night of John's latest post about the DNC's, and White House's, growing gay problem. And he wasn't very happy. He actually blamed John for the increasingly strained relationship between the gay community and the Democratic party, and then suggested that John was helping the Republicans by asking President Obama and the Democratic party to keep their promises to the gay community. I...
