Dennis Quaid Barely Escapes DUI

Dennis Quaid hopped behind the wheel of his Escalade after dinner at LA restaurant Phillipe Chows last night, but he didn't get very far. A police officer approached him and told him to "step out of the car" before Quaid could even leave the parking lot.

Paparazzi cameras over at Splash caught the event on tape, and they swear they heard Quaid saying he "didn't want to drive" while cameramen yelled, "Don't be like Mel Gibson!" Quaid and his wife Kimberly went back inside the restaurant and called a cab.

Earlier that evening, Quaid had attended the premiere of the new documentary One Peace at a Time. Maybe he had a little too much fun?
