What next for the Broncos after Marshal?

Denver Broncos owner Pat Bowlen met with Brandon Marshall at camp last Friday, and after the meet Brandon took some boxes of stuff to his car and left. What is up with all this? Certainly Bowlen knows Marshall is valuable to the team doesn't he? He is the owner after all.

Well, whatever is going on I think it has to do with money and a new permanent contract which Marshall apparently does not have. I think he is holding out for some money, and after all the money the Broncos have saved recently by not having to pay Cutler, why not?

Brandon has an injury to his hip that required off season surgery, so maybe he is telling Bowlen he doesn't want to have the team doctors work on his injury and give medical care until he has a contract and a raise. This is all just a guess on my part.

Bottom line here is that Brandon Marshall is a good wide receiver and we need to keep him. I am almost afraid to write about this because every time I give my opinion on what I think they should do, the Broncos do the opposite. So yes, it is true I am not being sought for an opinion on matters of importance to the Broncos :)

Why on earth would they let him go? They need him to catch the ball. He caught 102 balls in 2007 for over 1,300 yards, and he caught 104 balls last year for over 1,250 yards. He's scheduled to make just over $2 million this season. I think for the team's sake they should just fix this and get on with business.

It is too early to call this one, but the handwriting on the wall does not look good. Well, maybe we could toss some bones on a leather rug and try to read the position to see the outcome, or read the tea leaves, or whatever. Maybe the team plans on returning to the playoffs sometime around 2012 or so, I don't know.

What I have learned about McDaniels is that he is a team concept coach. He has sold Bowlen on this all for one, and one for all mentality, and if Brandon is grandstanding, he is hitting the brick wall with the new Bronco philiosphy. Is that it, do ya think?

I like Marshall as a player, and even the football commissioner did not suspend him any games for 2009 after his trouble again last summer (he has had plenty of trouble off season), so why not just pay him, give him a contract, and let the games begin in just a short time.

Kyle Orton has not commented, but secretly I believe he wants Brandon out there on the field to toss passes to. Brandon makes some really spectacular catches. Don't the Bronocs want him to play? I heard there was a voodoo guy poking needles in his Bowlen doll (unofficial of course) but maybe that is why this is happening. That voodoo guy is a Raiders fan.
