Feeling Blue

From:  oneof365.com
Happy days, sad days--a year holds a ton of emotions. Tonight, my dice rolled depression. In craps terminology, I guess that means I got as lucky as throwing "snake eyes." Maybe next time you'll blow on my dice, dearest Ether....feeling lucky? Dear Ether, I did a very bad thing today.  I gave in to my depression and pretty much slept the day away.  I hate myself for doing it.  I was on such a good roll for the past week or 2 and today I caved.  It’s funny.  I woke up this morning and... Why doctors never understand depression

Doctors and medicine are part of the current scientific zeitgeist to reduce things down to their smallest component part.   That way, they think they can really understand things. So, the greatest achievement for any doctor is to become a specialist - someone who knows more about a particular function, organ or part of an organ than any of his colleagues. Reductionism is the converse of wholism, where a diagnostician will try to understand a specific problem by looking at a wide spectrum of... Read Full Story

You're A Heart Attack, Just The Kind I Like

I hate life. There's nothing really even wrong with mine, I'm just so lonely right now. I hate telling people this, but the only thing I can really imagine making me happy right now is to have somebody to love. Somebody I can be physically intimate with. Sometimes I'm almost tempted to just meet someone and do something crazy, but I really don't think I ever could. I'm just not that sort of person. I just don't think I'm going to meet anyone in this town, and I won't be leaving here for at... Read Full Story

Mental Illness

For background I have anxiety issues, a wide variety actually. I have some general, social, PTSD , C- PTSD ... I'm also a bit of a hypochondriac which is at least related to the anxiety, if not considered a type of anxiety itself (I'm not sure on that). I've also dealt with depression throughout my life though I've gotten better. I've thought about suicide, I've attempted suicide once, and I have done some self-injury stuff. I'm so sick of the stigma of mental illness. I'm so sick of hearing... Read Full Story

Once more

It's failure for me once more. I have tasted failure once more This is my doing. Still it isn't mine. I blame myself. I blame myself. These things are pulling me down. How can a star performer in one place fails miserably in another place? This is very frustrating. I'm angry, pissed, depressed. It's one of those days. Now is a good time for a miracle. Lord, are you hearing? Hopelessly waiting for good times. despo Read Full Story

Mental Health Care is Health Care

I'm very lucky. I've always had health insurance. I've pretty much never had to seriously worry about getting sick and not being able to afford treatment. We may have been working class, but we had health insurance. Well, if I was physically sick. I had an appointment today to see a psychiatrist to work out some stuff with my anxiety medication. He wrote me another prescrition for Klonopin, and told me to reduce zoloft to half a pill for 5 days and then stop it, and I guess didn't think I... Read Full Story

Martha’s Story: The Terrors of Childhood

Childhood can be a nightmare. It is an act of grace that many of us fare as well as we do considering our family history. We may feel that we were born into the wrong family. Had we been born into the family next door, things might have gone more smoothly. We cannot wish our childhood pain away by ignoring it. As adults, our emotional history will follow us, creating a pattern of self-defeating behavior. Renowned author and therapist James P. Krehbiel discusses how we can all overcome self... Find out online if you’re at risk of suffering depression

From:  gotosee.co.uk
Depression has always been difficult to diagnose and only a visit to your GP can truly determine if you’re depressed. However, researchers from the UK have developed an online universal test to find out if you’re at risk of suffering with major depression. Using a special risk algorithm, a team from the University College London (UCL) tested around 9,000 people across Europe and in Chile, South America to determine its accuracy. The test was based on similar risk assessment for heart... Read Full Story
