Dallas Mavericks owner Mark Cuban is no longer vying to become owner of the Los Angeles Dodgers.
The Los Angeles Times is reporting that Cuban was eliminated from the running Friday, along with baseball executive Dennis Gilbert.
At least eight bidders have continued their bid, including a group led by Magic Johnson, according to the report.
Cuban has bid on the Texas Rangers in 2010 and has reportedly shown interest in the Chicago Cubs.
Catcher Gary "The Kid" Carter, a member of the Baseball Hall of Fame, died Thursday after battling a malignant brain tumor since last year. He was 57.
