In Miami last weekend, the Pittsburgh Steelers 2009 season came to a fitting conclusion in the waning moments of the final regular season game—Ike Taylor intercepted a pass.
It was his first interception since December 7, 2008, and, amazingly, the first pick of 2009 from a Steelers starting cornerback. (I’m not counting Deshea Townsend’s earlier pick, because he wasn’t a regular starter.) Sure, there were only 36 seconds left in the season...

The abomination at Arrowhead was all part of “the plan."
So was the loss to the Bengals the week earlier.
The Steelers have set out to lull the rest of the AFC playoff field into a false sense of security. Any time now, they will spring their trap.
After all, no team can possibly give up four kickoff returns in five weeks, right?
That must have been intentional.
Maybe the special teams were just itching to set a record. Maybe they were feeling...

Just a few items from me real quick as I drive back from to Seattle to begin the new year in earnest. First off, too bad we don't have at least one Steelers playoff game to get excited about this year. I absolutely love the week leading up to the Wild Card round, and in those special years when the black and gold has a first round bye, the two weeks leading up to their playoff game. Even in those years when it doesn't look like the team has...

Did you get any Steelers related items for Christmas, Hannukah or whatever else you and yours may have been celebrating this Holiday season? Do share. My girlfriend - with the help of the one and only mary rose, got me this Art Rooney Jr. signed Terrible Towel, which soon enough will be framed and displayed above my desk for me to gaze at while I spend inordinate amounts of time thinking and writing about the Pittsburgh Steelers.
