Make A Good Impression With Your Bachelor Pad

by Abigail Wattz

You want your bachelor pad to make a good impression on the women in your life. You’ve finally learned to accept the saying that your home is an extension of yourself, and you certainly don’t want to be mistaken for a cave man. Actually, you want to mirror an image of a sophisticated gentleman. Let’s see how you can do it

Start with a new coat of paint. Painted walls are the first things you notice in a room, so a change of color or adding some new texture livens up a living space quickly. Unfortunately, painting is also laborious and time-consuming if you can’t afford a professional painter. Why not invite your girlfriend or other females who’ve been threatening to update your decor to help with the painting? In other words, put up or shut up, ladies.

If you want to make your home look much bigger than it actually is, use a light color. For a dramatic look, paint one wall a contrasting dark and leave the rest light. There are other options besides the usual white. Examples are cream, beige, tan, light gray, mocha, gray-blue, and sage green.

It might be worth the investment to hire a professional painter to do one wall for you in a special effect. New paints have textures such as denim, linen or suede, or you could opt for a pattern such as sponge painting. Don’t be afraid to experiment.

Show off your new colors with good lighting. This is not just the brightness of the place but also of the fixtures you can decorate. There are different kinds of lamps with equally varied designs, sizes and shapes. For a manly look, opt for minimalist-inspired lamps and give your pad a twist of modernity.

Finally, what about the furniture? After all, isn’t it time you got rid of that cable-spool table you’ve been using since college?

You can still use your old furnishings but please, make sure they still look okay. More importantly, that they can still function well. You don’t want to be sitting a pretty lady only to find her smacked down on the floor! Rearrange your furniture and see for yourself how a change in placement can impact a room. It’s like moving to a new place!

However, if you have some dough to spare, purchase a few good pieces to go with your redecorated home. It can be a new coffee table, ottomans to accent the living room and area rugs as floor decors. Make use of wall hangings and some throw pillows.

Very easy, isn’t it? If you come up with any more creative ideas, feel free to apply them. It’s all for your home sweet bachelor home.
