You've been wanting to lose weight but you are still battling the bulge with candy, chips, and all the no no things you know you shouldn't be eating. One way to kick start your weight loss regimen is by doing a detox. There are a couple of essential facts that everyone should know about cleansing and doing a detox.
Detoxing is removing toxins and chemicals that build up in the body over time. We absorb toxins in the body through air, water, and our environment. But most importantly we absorb toxins through the food we eat. Doing a detox cleanses the body of these toxins and chemicals and helps us get back on track. There are a couple of benefits that one can experience from detoxing. Generally, the most common form of detox is through juicing. Juicing allows nutrients to be absorbed quicker into the bloodstream. Therefore the benefits allow for full nutrients to absorb. Weight loss is also a byproduct of juicing. Juicing has natural products. Often times weight gain is associated with over processed and fatty foods. Juicing puts all natural products back into the system. In addition this helps with preventing disease and helps with sleep.
Prep Work
There are a couple of ways to prepare the body for a detox. It's a good idea to begin a couple of days before going onto and all juice diet. Detoxing can be dangerous if it's not done correctly. Think vegan and vegetarian. Big leafy greens, eliminate sugars, coffee, and cut out dairy in your diet. A sample menu would be fruits for breakfast, fruits and a small salad for lunch, and a warm low sodium broth.
The Detox
There are now many companies that offer detox programs varying on different levels. If you have little to no experience with detoxing you should probably start with a beginner program. Start in smaller increments of 1-2 days before working up to a standard 5 day cleanse. It's ok to cheat if you absolutely need the energy but be sure to do it in a smart way. You can eat half an avocado, half a cup of coffee, or a light salad if you absolutely need the energy.
Mental Work
Doing a detox can be emotionally taxing. If you are serious about losing weight in the long run it may be good to employ the services of a life coach to help with the ups and downs of your detox program. Some side affects may be irritability. A life coach can help remind you why you are doing the detox and help you stay on track with your weight loss regiment.
