We, the undersigned fans of the Detroit Lions NFL franchise petition the Lions to hire a squad of professional cheerleaders for the upcoming 2003-04 season. History throughout the league has shown that professional cheerleaders can bring excitement and enthusiasm to the crowd and can also bring additional recognition to the team, as is the case with the Dallas Cowboy Cheerleaders. As the Detroit Lions are owners of the Detroit Fury Arena League team, which has a professional cheer team, we have seen that a professional cheer team can be a success in a football venue in Detroit. The Lions are one of the few teams in the NFL without a professional cheer team, and think that hiring a cheer team would complete the professional look of the overwhelming success of Ford Field.
