The new owner of the Detroit Pistons says Joe Dumars will remain the organization's point man on basketball matters as the team tries to rebuild after missing the playoffs two straight seasons.

Owner Tom Gores was introduced at The Palace on Thursday, a day after completing an agreement to purchase the Pistons from Karen Davidson. Gores says he'll "lean on" Dumars, the team president who has been part of all three of Detroit's NBA titles as either a player or an executive.

Gores also says he expects a decision on coach John Kuester's future soon.

Gores takes over following a drawn-out sale by Davidson that stretched back before the season. The team announced in April that Gores had agreed to buy the Pistons.
