After a successful first NFL game in London last year, between the Miami Dolphins & New York Giants, the NFL had the New Orleans Saints & San Diego Chargers travel over the pond to square-off. The stadium was packed, and 81,000+ seats were sold out well in advance. The Saints were considered the “home” team at Wembley stadium in London . During the UK national anthem, “God Save the Queen”, the entire stadium sang along with “Joss Stone” (cute singer) - something you don’t really see at... Read Full Story

NFL Offseason Roadmap is a series focused on the needs of NFL teams as they begin the offseason. 1. Defensive Tackle/Linebacker/Cornerback . I know this reeks of a cop-out, and I guess you’re right. But every time I think that the Saints need one of these positions over the others, I change my mind. On one hand you’ve got defensive tackle, where Hollis Thomas , the only true nose tackle, is 34 and playing year-to-year. He’s consistent against... Read Full Story
One of the questions that I kept hearing this season was why didn’t the Saints use RB Deuce McAllister more. There were several third and short situations where McAllister represented the best option but Coach Payton didn’t use him. There were also games where the Saints ran a few plays with McAllister and then seemed to forget about him.
For the season, McAllister finished 50th in the league with 418 rushing yards. He averaged 3.9 yards per carry, the same as Matt Forte with Chicago and... Read Full Story

For all of the analysis and criticism from the legion of armchair quarterbacks (i.e. all of us) each week, it’s the guys on the field — you know, the ones that have actually played professional football — who know what’s going on best. And according to Deuce McAllister , I, along with everybody else who has spoken out against Sean Payton for not using him enough , have got it all wrong .
“A lot of times when people say I’m not getting touches... Read Full Story
