The University of North Carolina women's lacrosse team earned its best team grade point average on record (since at least 1999) in the spring of 2012, head coach Jenny Levy announced on Wednesday. Two-time U.S. Olympian and veteran collegiate diving coach Jenny Keim Johansen was named Monday as the new diving coach at the University of North Carolina as announced by Tar Heel head swimming coach Rich DeSelm. Johansen joins Carolina from NC State University where she had served as the diving coach since 2008.  

North Carolina placed four student-athletes on the 2012 All-Atlantic Coast Conference teams Monday as voted on by the league coaches. Carolina won the regular season meeting against the Hurricanes, a 4-3 decision in Chapel Hill.  

The 15th-ranked University of North Carolina men's tennis team is headed back to the NCAA Sweet 16 after beating 17th-ranked Tennessee 4-0 Sunday afternoon at the Cone-Kenfield Tennis Center. This is Carolina's third NCAA Sweet 16 appearance since 2006 and its first since 2008.

North Carolina, seeded No. 1 in the ACC Softball Championship for the first time since 2008, opened play in 2012 with a 10-4 win over No. 8 Boston College (23-30).With the win, the Tar Heels improve to 41-12 and advance to the semifinals where they will face the winner of the Maryland and Virginia Tech game at 3:30 p.m. on Friday.

For the 10th time in the last 11 seasons and the eighth time under head coach Brian Kalbas, the North Carolina women's tennis team has been awarded a home regional and a national seed for the NCAA Division I Team Championship, the NCAA announced Tuesday. The Tar Heels are the No. 7 seed in the 2012 event and will welcome Arizona, Minnesota and Richmond to the Cone-Kenfield Tennis Center May 11 and 12.
