Dev Patel and Frieda Pinto Laugh at Engagement Rumors

(Getty Images)more pics »Dev Patel and his girlfriend Frieda Pinto have been dating since meeting on the set of Slumdog Millionaire in 2008, but there are no plans to get hitched just yet -- contrary to the buzz about their relationship. They think the wedding rumors are funny, though they do wish Dev's mom would stop believing everything she hears!
Dev and Frieda (Bauer Griffin)He said: “We always laugh about these things. The last rumours I heard was that me and Frieda were looking for a wedding cake in Los Angeles. Then we were going to fly it down to India to have our wedding there.”
But one person who does believe the speculation is Dev’s mother Anita, who constantly calls him to check if the wedding rumors are true. He explained: “It is weird now because every day when I am filming I get a call from mum, and she says, ‘So I hear you are getting engaged now?’ ”
Dev also revealed the couple tried to keep their relationship a secret in the beginning in case people thought it was a publicity stunt. He said: “The talk was all about the film at that time and we weren’t going to come out as some kind of product. We weren’t doing it for marketing. If we could we would probably have kept it totally under wraps.
He continued: “But there comes a point when you get more attention from the, ‘Are they aren’t they?’ debate. So we figured, ‘That’s alright, everyone knows now.’ ”
Since going public with their love, Dev admits people are less interested in his relationship with Freida, 25. He said: “Once we did come out the attention died down and that is great.”
And he added that despite filming on different locations the couple “make time for each other.”
