The 2010 FIBA World Championship for Women will be held next September and October in the Czech Republic, and the Phoenix Mercury are very well represented.

Phoenix G Diana Taurasi spent a day in jail prior to departing to Russia to join her Spartak Moscow team. The incarceration stemmed from a July traffic stop in Phoenix where the WNBA's MVP was cited for extreme DUI and speeding. Those charges were dropped after a judge suspended nine days of Taurai's sentence, leaving just the DUI. Taurasi's blood-alcohol level was 0.17 percent -- twice the legal limit in Arizona (0.08 percent).
