New York Islanders forward Pascal Morency has been suspended indefinitely after leaving the bench to start a fight with Calgary defenseman Dion Phaneuf. The NHL announced the suspension Friday. No date for a hearing has been set. Phaneuf's hit knocked out Islanders forward Kyle Okposo in the second period of the Flames' 5-4 shootout victory Thursday night in an exhibition game. Morency jumped off the bench and charged Phaneuf, starting a brawl that included New York goalie Martin Biron. Okposo remained motionless for more than six minutes. Calgary Flames defenseman Dion Phaneuf will not play against the Chicago Blackhawks on Monday night after taking a hard hit during their game over the weekend. The Norris Trophy nominee was hit by Chicago's Troy Bouwer with about 8 minutes left in Saturday's Game 5, which the Blackhawks won 5-1 to take a 3-2 series lead. Last night in a pre-season NHL game between the Calgary Flames and the New York Islanders, Calgary defenseman Dion Phaneuf ,who is known for crushing hits, laid one of his patended side swiping blows on young Islanders winger Kyle Okposo, which then lead to a semi brawl on the ice between the two teams.
