Where I live, seven miles from the San Andreas Fault in California, we just passed the 20th anniversary of the Loma Prieta earthquake, which devastated some areas of towns near where I live. As if that weren't reminder enough of the importance of emergency preparedness, last Tuesday we got almost 11 inches of rain from the remnants of a Pacific typhoon! We lost power and phone service for most of the day. Good reminders of how important it is...
