Dock Elllis was a colorful personality in Major League Baseball. There was the time he intentionally threw the ball at 5 batters to open a contest against the Cincinnati Reds before he was pulled from the game. Another time he got in trouble with his team's management when they weren't happy about him wearing hair curlers onto the field during pre-game warm-ups.
Dock Ellis as portrayed in "Dock Ellis & The LSD No-No" But Dock's craziest story comes from the no-hitter he pitched June 12, 1970. Dock Ellis revealed later after leaving professional baseball that he was under the influence of LSD while pitching the game. That remarkable experience has now been retold in an animated video produced by James Blagden and New York apparel company No Mas.
The video brings to life Dock's bizarre experience of pitching a rare no-hitter while high on LSD in a rough animation style reminiscent of long-time Hunter S. Thompson collaborator Ralph Steadman. Check out the video below.
