Dominika Cibulkova and Daniela Hantuchova gave the Slovak Republic a 2-0 lead in their first round of the Fed Cup World Group II tie against Belgium. Cibulkova beat Kirsten Flipkens 7-6 6-1 and Hantuchova defeated Yanina Wickmayer 7-6 6-3. Dominika faced Flipkens first. The first set was highly competitive between two of the smaller players on the circuit. The Belgian actually held two set points.
