South African President Thabo Mbeki said Saturday that Sudanese President Omar al-Beshir must not be prosecuted for war crimes, for fear of upsetting the peace process in Darfur.  

Minni Minawi, the senior Presidential assistant and sole signatory of Darfur Peace Agreement, rejected the latest census and called on the Government to abandon its outcome.  

Sudanese government today denied vigorously any trend to expel the United Nations-African Union Mission in Darfur from the troubled region.
