Chris Weitz is gearing up to start filming
Twilight sequel
New Moon, the folks at Summit Entertainment are already brainstorming who they want to hand control of
Eclipse, the third installment in the series, over to.
Entertainment Weekly reports that they are in talks with a "select group" of directors that includes actress/producer/director
Drew Barrymore.
Twilight stars Robert Pattinson and Kristen Stewart.
If you're wondering what qualifications Barrymore has for a film of this box office magnitude, so am I. Although her production company Flower Films has been very successful, with movies like
Charlie's Angels,
Donnie Darko and
He's Just Not That Into You under its belt, Drew has only recently completed her directorial debut with the upcoming film
Whip It! I haven't heard too much about it, but I do know it's about a girl who enters a roller derby league, and it stars relatively legitimate people like
Ellen Page,
Juliette Lewis and
Marcia Gay Harden.
Maybe
Whip It! will offer more insights about Barrymore's directing chops, but some people doubt she's prepared for
Eclipse. The always scathing
Perez Hilton, for example, summed it up in a post titled "Don't Let Drew Ruin It":
We expect nothing but smelly cheesetasticness from Drew!
